이번 서울 드래곤 시티에서 선보이는 전병삼 작가의 시리즈는 행복(happiness), 천국(heaven)과 같은 추상적 개념들의 기표(signifier)를 탐구한다. 사과와 같은 물질적인 객체는 물리적으로 분해해 내부를 관찰할 수 있지만, ‘관념’이나 ‘생각’과 같은 비물질적인 개념들은 그 본질과 내면을 쉽게 들여다볼 수 없다. 전병삼은 이번 시리즈에서 이러한 비물질적 개념을 시각적으로 해체하고, 이를 반으로 가르고 그 사이를 확장하는 방식을 통해 관념의 깊은 본질에 다가가려 한다. 이 과정을 통해 그는 관람객들에게 비가시적인 생각과 감정의 내면을 직관적으로 경험할 수 있는 새로운 시각적 언어를 제시한다.
In his latest exhibition at Seoul Dragon City, Jeon Byung-sam presents the INSIDE Series, which explores signifiers of abstract concepts such as happiness and heaven. While physical objects like apples can be dissected to reveal their inner structures, intangible ideas like thoughts or concepts are far more elusive and difficult to visualize. In this series, Jeon metaphorically splits these intangible signifiers in half and stretches the space in between to emphasize their inner essence. Through this visual exploration, he offers viewers a new way to intuitively engage with the hidden core of thoughts and emotions, creating a fresh language for understanding the invisible dimensions of human experience.

전병삼 작가는 INSIDE 시리즈를 통해 행복, 천국과 같은 추상적 개념의 기표를 탐구한다. 그는 관념을 시각적으로 해체하고 이를 반으로 가른 뒤 확장하는 방식을 사용하여 개념의 본질을 드러낸다. 이를 통해 보이지 않는 감정과 생각의 내면을 직관적으로 경험할 수 있는 새로운 시각적 언어를 제시한다.
Jeon Byung-sam’s INSIDE series explores signifiers of abstract concepts like happiness and heaven. By visually dissecting and expanding intangible ideas, he reveals their inner essence. This approach offers viewers a new visual language to intuitively experience the hidden dimensions of thought and emotion.
