서울에서 태어난 이건우는 목조형 작품으로 예술계에 데뷔하여 많은 전시와 공모전에서 입상을 하는 등 예술계의 인정을 받았고 현재는 평면 회화와 미디어 파사드작품으로 다양하게 자신의 예술을 표현하며 넓혀가고 있다. 또한 최고급 호텔 전시, 해외 전시, 광고 협찬, 다양한 브랜드와 프로젝트를 진행하며 대중과 미디어의 주목을 받고 있다. 작가작품의 특징은 본인 내면의 복잡함을 단순한 형태로 나타내고, 불규칙한 반복을 통해 인위적인 형태를 자연스러운 패턴으로 나타낸다. 작가는 ＇자연적인 것과 인위적인 것, 불완전함과 완전함, 그리고 규칙적인 배열과 불규칙한 적층 등 서로 대비되는 것들을 하나의 형태로 나타냈을 때, 가장 완벽하고 아름답다.’ 라고 말한다. 

‘바람’은 두 가지의 뜻이 있습니다. ‘어떤 일이 이루어지기를 기다리는 간절한 마음’ 그리고 ‘기압의 변화 또는 사람이나 기계에 의하여 일어나는 공기의 움직임’ 만약 그 희망의 마음을 담은 ‘바람’이 불어온다면 그 ‘바람’은 어떤 모습일까요. 공기의 움직임이 바람이듯, 공기는 계절을 담아 그 계절의 색채를 갖게 됩니다. 그리고 바람을 순간포착한 바람 조각의 형상은 우리의 ‘바람’을 뚜렷이 담아준 듯 시각적으로 단순하고도 아름답습니다. 인생은 세찬 바람과 험한 물결이 몰아칩니다. 즉, 풍파(風波)의 연속이지요. 지나간 풍파는 그저 한때의 바람으로 부드럽게 순화시켜 보내고, 앞으로 불어닥칠 우리 삶의 풍파는 사람의 ‘바람’대로 반갑게 불어오는 ‘바람’이 된다면 어떨까요.

‘Baram Series’의 바람은 사람이 겪는 풍파를 의미합니다. 작가는 바람을 다양한 색상으로 표현하고 2차원적인 단순한 형태로 나타내어 사람의 풍파와 역경을 순화시키고 복풍(福風)으로 전환하고자 하는 바람을 담고 있다. 

Born in Seoul, Lee Geon Woo made his debut in the art world with wooden sculptures and gained recognition in the art scene through numerous exhibitions and competitions. He is currently expanding his artistic expression through flat paintings and media façade works. He is also gaining attention from the public and media through exhibitions in luxury hotels, overseas exhibitions, advertising sponsorships, and various brand projects.

The hallmark of his work is the expression of his inner complexities through simple forms, and the representation of artificial shapes as natural patterns through irregular repetition. The artist states, "When contrasting elements such as natural and artificial, imperfection and perfection, regular arrangements and irregular layering are expressed as a single form, it becomes the most perfect and beautiful."

“Baram” has two meanings. One is "a longing heart waiting for something to happen," and the other is "the movement of air caused by a change in atmospheric pressure or by people or machines." If the "wind" carrying the heart of hope were to blow, what would it look like? Just as air movement becomes wind, air carries the colors of the season. The form of wind captured in an instant, like a sculpture of wind, visually embodies our "desires" simply and beautifully. Life is swept by strong winds and rough waves—an ongoing series of struggles. The passing storms are gently softened and sent off as just a momentary breeze, and what if the storms of life yet to come could be a "wind" that blows in joy, as one’s own heart desires?

The wind in the "Baram Series" represents the struggles and adversities a person experiences. The artist expresses wind in various colors and portrays it in simple two-dimensional forms, with the intention of softening human challenges and transforming them into a positive, auspicious wind.
