국대호는 서울대학교 미술대학에서 서양화를, 파리 국립미술학교에서는 회화를, 파리 8대학교 대학원에서는 조형예술학과를 전공했다. 1995년부터 현재까지 국내외에서 총 30여회의 개인전을 열었고 국내와 싱가포르, 네덜란드, 홍콩, 미국 마이애미 등지의 아트페어와 영국, 프랑스에서 개최되는 단체전에 참여하였다. 프랑스에서 다수의 작가상을 수상하였고, 작품은 국립현대미술관, 부산 시립미술관, 경기도 미술관, 프랑스의 비트리 시립미술관 등에 소장되어 있다. 국대호는 초점이 잘못 잡혀 흐리게 보이는 보케(bokeh) 현상이나, 능숙하지 못한 사람이 찍은 사진처럼 선명하지못한 이미지들을 보여준다. 이는 주관적인 시각을 통해 대상의 사실성을 조절하여 추상적인 화면을 만들어내는 것으로 평범한 장면들을 결코 평범하지 않게 표현하려는 작가의 의도이다. 촬영한 작품을 디지털로 프린트하고 똑같은 모습을 캔버스에 유채로 그리기도 하여 사진과 회화의 동행에 성공하고 있는 작가로 평가받고 있다. 도시풍경, 젤리 빈, 스트라이프 시리즈에 이어 최근에는 컬러필드 시리즈를 발표했는데 색에 몰입해 다양한 색을 채집하는 작가의 열정을 발견할 수 있다.

Kook Dae Ho studied Western painting at the College of Fine Arts at Seoul National University, painting at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and completed his graduate studies in Visual Arts at Paris 8 University. Since 1995, he has held over 30 solo exhibitions both domestically and internationally, and has participated in art fairs in countries such as Singapore, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Miami, as well as group exhibitions in the UK and France. He has received numerous artist awards in France, and his works are housed in the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Busan Museum of Art, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, and the Vitry-sur-Seine Municipal Museum in France. Kook Dae-ho's works often feature the bokeh effect, where the focus is deliberately misaligned to create a blurred image, or they resemble photographs taken by someone unskilled in photography. This is a conscious choice to adjust the object’s realism through a subjective perspective and create abstract compositions. He is recognized for successfully blending photography and painting, printing his photographic works digitally and then recreating the same images on canvas with oil paints. Following his Cityscapes, Jelly Bean, and Stripes series, he recently presented his Color Field series, which reflects his passion for immersing himself in color and collecting various hues.
