Brad Hampton creates situations within his paintings that explore the relationships between objects. He is fascinated by moments of pause, visual illusions, and elements that disrupt perception. His works generate tension through the clash of complementary colors, depict clouds hovering over the ground like sentinels when viewed from above, or offer perspectives reminiscent of architectural plans and elevations, as if viewing an entirely different space.

 The artist describes his process as follows: “The time I spend in the studio feels like a retreat from my constant battle with the language of everyday life. My work serves as a record of a scout searching for new ways to carve out spaces of silence in a world that is noisily melting away.”
