Michael Müller is an artist whose diverse body of work cannot be confined to a singular interpretation. He constantly expands his artistic methods, presenting works that combine paper works, paintings, text-based pieces, sculptures, found objects, music, and performance.

Müller's art begins with existing historical narratives, methods, and norms, and pushes these systems to their limits by modifying them along a fictional line. Whether culturally encoded, materially constrained, or rationally determined, all boundaries are a challenge for Müller. His themes span a wide range, from literature, language, writing, music, dance, myth and nature, religion and its rituals, to gender identity and clothing, and the operating systems of art.

He explores the aesthetics and visualization of complex thought processes, constantly questioning and experiencing them sensorially and materially. Based on historical narratives, scientific methods, social norms, and linguistic and numerical systems, he develops an artistic practice that pushes these systems and structures to their limits through transformation, variation, manipulation, and fictional modification. The resulting deviations, stimuli, and distrust in unquestioned truths about the existing order give rise to a completely independent formal language in large-scale paintings and drawings, as well as sculptures, installations, performances, and Müller's curatorial work.
